"I straddle film and digital photography. Many of my images are digital prints made from medium format film negatives, and I specialize in landscapes, still lifes and abstract compositions. Much of my work has been described as painterly.
The waterscapes emphasize ambiguous transitions between land and water. I strive to capture the illusion of vastness interrupted by shapes rock or wood. Downplaying its liquidity, water is one of several textures in my photographs.
Over the years I have been photographing rock surfaces which I treat as abstract swirls similar to action painters of a bygone era. These natural surfaces yield authentic and substantive possibilities, the same surface so changing depending on the weather and daylight.
I teach photography in my home studio to triads of beginning and intermediate camera enthusiasts. "
